University of Minnesota Equine Center – CT Scan & Mare Foal Unit

LS Black took the reins and hit the ground running on the Leatherdale Equine Center remodel project at the University of Minnesota. Our team was trusted to support the installation of one of the first equine standing CT scans in the area. The standing CT scan requires no anesthesia, making it safe, simple, and flexible for the horses and ensures peace of mind for their owners. We also renovated the mare and foal room recovery unit. The Equine Center was fully occupied during construction and great care was taken to not disturb the horses while we were there.

The construction scope of work included demolition of existing fixtures and concrete, removal of equestrian stocks, and the installation of the new concrete pit that housed the CT Scanner. Additional work included new equestrian mare/foal stocks; floor drains, domestic water, medical gas piping,  HVAC in-line duct fan,  electrical power, data and lighting.
