The Saint Croix Scenic Riverway Visitor Center was a new construction that combined a Visitor Center and National Park Service headquarters, deploying numerous Green elements. Sensitive landscaping includes a pond and native plantings that bring nature right up to the windows. Green elements include passive solar, geothermal, and turf roofs, as well as utilizing recycled materials, geothermal heating, locally grown materials, rapidly renewable resources, and low emitting materials.
